Rest and Recharge in Pattaya
The arrival of the massive nuclear-powered carrier, packed with warplanes, at the port of Laem Chabang was a sight to behold. Rear Admiral Robert Loughran expressed the importance of this stop for the crew to rest and recharge after a grueling deployment.
Captain Dan Keeler, the commanding officer, highlighted the significance of this historic visit after spending 286 days at sea. The crew is looking forward to exploring the charms of Thailand and immersing themselves in the culture of this historic country.
Despite facing challenges during the deployment, including reports of deteriorating conditions and mental health issues on board, the USS Abraham Lincoln has finally reached the shores of Pattaya, known for its beaches and vibrant nightlife.
Welcoming the US Military
Pattaya’s mayor, Poramase Ngampiches, assured the safety and fair treatment of the sailors during their stay. Buses have been arranged to transport them to the city, where they can enjoy various attractions and experiences, excluding water sports and cannabis activities.
The local businesses in Pattaya are gearing up to welcome the US military, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable visit for the crew. Despite concerns raised by Democratic lawmakers about the conditions on board, the ship will soon depart for its next mission, as the US-Israel war with Iran continues.
As the USS Abraham Lincoln prepares to depart from Thailand, it hands over its duties to the USS George Washington and later to the USS Theodore Roosevelt, marking the ongoing presence of the US in the Arabian Sea for strategic missions over Iran.
